Comprehensive chimney care for your home's safety and efficiency

Local Chimney Sweep And Cleaning

Creosote builds up every time you burn wood - and it's the #1 cause of chimney fires. We clean the full flue system from top to firebox, removing soot, glazed creosote, and blockages so your chimney draws properly and your family stays safe.

Chimney Inspection

Level 1, 2, or 3 - we match the inspection to the situation. Buying a home? Level 2 with video. Annual checkup? Level 1 covers it. We document everything with photos and give you a clear report, not a sales pitch.

Chimney Repair

Cracked crowns, crumbling mortar joints, damaged flue tiles - we fix what's broken before it becomes a bigger problem. Most repairs take a day or less, and we'll show you exactly what needs work before we start.

Chimney Cap Installation

A chimney without a cap is an open invitation for rain, raccoons, and downdrafts. We install stainless steel and copper caps with built-in spark arrestors, custom-sized to fit your flue opening exactly.

Chimney Liner

Older chimneys often have cracked clay tiles or no liner at all - both are fire hazards. We install stainless steel and cast-in-place liners that meet current code and actually improve your draft.

Chimney Masonry Repair

Brick and mortar don't last forever, especially in humid climates. We repoint deteriorated joints, replace spalled bricks, and match existing materials so the repair blends in. Catches water problems before they reach your interior walls.

Chimney Flashing Repair

That dark stain on your ceiling near the chimney? Probably failed flashing. We remove the old material, install new step and counter flashing, and seal everything properly. Stops leaks at the source.

Chimney Rebuilds

When repair isn't enough, we rebuild. From the roofline up or from the foundation - depends on how far the damage goes. New masonry, new liner, new cap, new flashing. Done right so you won't need us again for decades.

Chimney Animal Removal

Scratching sounds? Foul smell? Birds, squirrels, and raccoons love chimneys. We remove them humanely, clear out nesting material, and cap the flue so they can't get back in.

Fireplace Cleaning

Ash piling up in the firebox, soot on the damper, smoke stains on the surround - we clean it all. Includes the firebox, smoke shelf, and damper assembly. Your fireplace will look and work like it should.

Chimney Fireplace Repair

Smoke pouring into the room instead of going up? Damper stuck? Cracked smoke chamber? We diagnose the actual problem - not guess - and fix it. Most fireplace issues are straightforward once you know where to look.

Firebox Repair

Cracked firebricks and deteriorated refractory panels are more than cosmetic - they let heat reach combustible framing behind the wall. We replace damaged bricks and mortar with proper heat-rated materials.

Gas Fireplace Cleaning

Gas fireplaces still need annual service. Dust coats the burner and logs, the pilot assembly corrodes, and the glass fogs up. We clean the full unit - burner, pilot, glass, and venting - so it runs clean and stays under warranty.

Gas Fireplace Repair

Pilot won't stay lit? No heat? Remote stopped working? We troubleshoot gas fireplace issues from thermocouples to valve assemblies. Certified on all major brands - Heatilator, Lennox, Napoleon, Majestic, and more.

Wood Stove Repair

Door gaskets wear out, baffles warp, glass cracks. We service all wood stove brands - replace worn parts, adjust the door seal, and make sure your stove drafts correctly. Gets your heat output back where it should be.

Pellet Stove Repair

Auger jams, igniter failures, control board errors - pellet stoves have more moving parts than most people realize. We diagnose and repair the issue, clean the exhaust path, and get your stove feeding and burning properly again.

Duct Cleaning

Your HVAC pushes air through every duct in the house - along with whatever's living in them. Dust, pet dander, mold spores, construction debris. We clean the full system and you'll notice the difference in air quality immediately.

Dryer Duct Cleaning

Lint in your dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen - it's one of the top causes of house fires nationally. We clean the full run from the dryer to the exterior vent. Clothes dry faster, energy bill drops, fire risk gone.

Commercial Air Duct Cleaning

Restaurants, offices, multi-unit buildings - commercial ductwork collects grease, dust, and allergens at scale. We schedule after hours to keep your business running and bring your system up to health code standards.

Chimney Crown Repair

December 13, 2025 Historic
Problem

Multiple issues were observed: the brick chimney crown and flashing had failed in areas allowing potential water intrusion and the exposed brick flue had no cap, leaving it vulnerable to rain. Internally the metal damper assembly was heavily corroded and seized, preventing proper operation of the fireplace/insert and increasing the risk of smoke and heat control problems.

Solution

We removed deteriorated material and installed a fresh, smooth concrete crown/top coat and new black metal base flashing at the chimney base, and fitted a stainless mesh cap on the brick flue to prevent water and debris entry. The corroded damper hardware was removed and replaced with a new stainless damper assembly and linkage, the double-wall flue was secured through the framed chase, and a mushroom-style cap with storm collar and proper roof sealing was installed at the round flue penetration.

The chimney crown, flashing and caps are now sealed and weatherproof, and the new damper restores reliable operation and safety of the fireplace/insert. Overall the chimney system is secured against water intrusion and ready for regular use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Enfield

How much should I expect to pay for a standard chimney sweep in Enfield, NC, and what factors influence that price? LOCAL

+

Expect to budget between $175 and $325 for a standard chimney sweep and inspection in Enfield. Various factors can influence this cost. The presence of older, taller chimneys in Halifax County may require more time and specialized equipment, increasing the price. Additionally, our humid climate accelerates creosote buildup, particularly with frequent use of local pine, which may necessitate more intensive cleaning. Accessibility to your chimney, as well as how long it's been since your last cleaning, can also impact pricing. It's always wise to get a detailed written estimate before proceeding, ensuring transparency and a clear understanding of the work needed to keep your system safe and efficient.

How often do I really need my chimney swept here in Enfield, NC, with our mild winters? LOCAL

+

In Enfield, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends having your chimney inspected and cleaned annually, regardless of our milder winters. Local humidity can lead to faster and more significant creosote buildup, especially if you're burning our abundant local pine. This can elevate the risk of fire hazards. Moreover, many chimneys accumulate nests from birds or squirrels during warmer months, which can block airflow. Regular annual servicing addresses these issues, allowing you to enjoy your fireplace safely. With just one appointment a year, you can ensure your home is protected while maximizing its heating efficiency in those rare cool evenings that do occur.

What's the best time of year to schedule a chimney sweep or inspection in Enfield, NC, given our local climate? LOCAL

+

For residents in Enfield, the best time to schedule a chimney sweep is between April and August. During these months, we experience lower demand, allowing for more flexible scheduling. Many homeowners wait until fall to get their chimneys serviced, but this often leads to longer wait times. By having your chimney cleaned in the warmer months, you can eliminate unpleasant odors that may linger from creosote buildup over the summer. Additionally, scheduling an inspection gives us ample time to address any repairs that may be necessary, ensuring your fireplace is in top condition well before the cooler nights of autumn arrive. Avoid the last-minute rush, and ensure your home is ready for any drop in temperature.

With the hurricane and strong storm seasons we experience in Enfield, NC, are there special chimney safety precautions I should take before and after a storm? LOCAL

+

In Enfield, preparing your chimney ahead of storms is crucial due to our coastal location. Before a storm hits, make sure your chimney cap is securely in place to prevent wind damage and keep rain and debris out of the flue. After a storm, scheduling an inspection is advisable. High winds can cause damage to the masonry or crown, leading to leaks that threaten your home's integrity. Additionally, fallen debris can cause blockages, creating fire hazards or carbon monoxide risks. While there are no specific chimney codes regarding storms in North Carolina, taking these precautions is essential for your safety and peace of mind.

Do I need a permit from Halifax County for chimney repairs or a new fireplace installation in Enfield, NC? LOCAL

+

In Enfield, a permit is typically required for most significant chimney work, including new installations of appliances like fireplaces or wood stoves, as well as major structural repairs. This requirement is enforced by the Halifax County Planning & Inspections Department to ensure compliance with the North Carolina State Building Code, which mandates important fire safety standards. For minor repairs, such as replacing a chimney cap, no permit is usually needed. However, if you're making structural changes, it's essential to ensure the work adheres to safety guidelines. Our team can assist you with the permitting process, ensuring that your project is compliant and stress-free.
